Constitutionalism arose after the Glorious Revolution of James II in the country of England in 1688. Constitutionalism limited the power of the monarch and established Parliament as the supreme being over the king or queen. This arose after Mary and William of Orange were forced to accept the English Bill of Rights. These bills were the first step towards constitutional monarchy and gave certain fundamental freedoms, such as the right to complain to the king to the people.
